Why use a Smartcard?
You can store your Digital Certificate on a physical card or
USB token. This allows you to take your certificate with you and use it on any PC which
has the relevant software installed. As well as being portable, smartcards and tokens
enhance security as they - and hence the certificate - can be securely stored
(eg. locked in a safe) rather than left installed on an individual PC.

How do I get my certificate onto the Smartcard/Token?
You can either Generate your keys on the smartcard/token and place the certificate
straight onto the device - or - once you have obtained your Gatekeeper certificate
you can export it from your browser and then import it onto the smartcard/token.
Once this is done you can delete the original certificate held in the browser.
Can I use my own Smartcard/Token with Gatekeeper certificates?
Yes you can, however, VeriSign will not provide support for your device.
