VeriSign GatekeeperIndividual (Type 1) Digital CertificateWhat is an Individual (Type 1) Digital Certificate? Individual Digital Certificates are used by individuals who wish to identify themselves electronically to a Government agency or organisations that accepts Gatekeeper Digital Certificates. The individual is the only person identified in the certificate and therefore assumes sole responsibility for any and all transactions undertaken using the digital certificate. Each applicant for an individual digital certificate must complete a personal identification check, during which, the applicant provides Evidence of Identity (EOI). The identification check must be performed at selected Australia Post locations. Check the KeyPOST location guide to find the most suitable location for you. What grades of individual certificate can I purchase? There are three grades of individual certificates. The grade of certificate is an indication of the level of trust that may be attributed to a certificate. The higher the grade of certificate the greater the level of trust in the certificate. A higher grade of certificate therefore requires the applicant to provide more EOI documentation.
Note: If you require a certificate specifically for use with the Australian Customs Service, you should proceed to our Gatekeeper: Australian Customs Service pages. You can now enrol for your Individual Gatekeeper Digital Certificate:
