Customs: ABN-DSC Authorised Officer Enrolment

How Do I enrol for an Authorised Officer ABN-DSC?

  • Enrol online and enter your enrolment details.
  • Go to an Authorised Australia Post outlet for an identification check.
  • Allow six working days for processing, from when you lodge your application at Australia Post (providing your enrolment information is correct).
  • Download your certificate. When your certificate is issued you will be notified via email. The email provides instructions on how to download your certificate.

Note: By enrolling for a Certificate through these Customs branded pages you are also agreeing that VeriSign may report to Customs the number and type of Certificates that you have purchased.

Note: If you do not require a certificate specifically for use with the Australian Customs Service,
you should proceed to our General Gatekeeper pages.

We strongly recommend that you read this information before enrolling:
  • Ensure you are connected to a printer. After filling in the online enrolment forms you are required to print out some documents, which you will need to complete your enrolment.
  • Enrol and download your certificate from the same computer. Also, make sure you use the same type and version of browser.
  • You must download your Digital Certificate within 30 days of issuance. If you experience any problems when installing your certificate VeriSign will replace your certificate free-of-charge during this period. After 30 days, normal charges will apply
  • Web-based email, such as Yahoo and Hotmail, do not allow full functionality of digital certificates. You should use a POP3 enabled email program which has full support for digital certificates.

You must follow these steps for enrolment to succeed:

  • On Internet Explorer's Tools menu, select Internet Options, then click the Security tab.
  • Click Trusted sites in the top frame, then click the Sites button.
  • Enter https://gatekeeper.esign.com.au (note the https) in the Add this website to the zone box and click Add.
  • Click Close and click OK.
  • Close all Internet Explorer windows. Re-open Internet Explorer and return to this page.
